T.Cartel’s seminar on Entrepreneurship WHY review(17th Sept 2009)

Once again this session has been very impactful and insightful for the audiences. Nicholas, the guest speaker shared with us the concept of "Disruptive Innovation and Technology". It's basically a way of doing business whereby small time entrepreneurs can have a chance to compete with the "big boys" in the market. He taught us many things we need to know in the business realm from startup to sustaining a business. Providing several of his past events such as beauty pageant and selling online magazine as examples.

Tommy Wang Changli the mediacorp artiste also came down to grace the event. Though he did not share much during the seminar, he did however give insights and business advice to individuals who have went up to him during the networking session. With his connections, some of the audiences even wanted him to groom them into the next superstar! But well... being a passionate and helpful person, don't be surprise if some of them do make it into Mediacorp. =)

Lawrence on the other hand, is very experience in the property and engineering material sector. Many went up to him during networking session trying to source out opportunities in the property and tourism sector! Being the developer of hotel81, Lawrence indeed has many to share to young entrepreneurs who wants to penetrate in the hotel industry. With his guidance, it'll not be long before people learning from him become successful!

The whole session was supposed to end at 10pm latest. But almost all the audiences did not want to leave because all of them just have so much to ask our guest speakers. With all guest speakers so willing to share their expertise as usual, it is no wonder people become so unwilling to leave; with some even asked me to organise a followup seminar cum networking session. At 11.15pm, the session for Entrepreneurship WHY ended with everyone in high spirits. Some of the comments I received are:

It was a great seminar! well done JT!! Entrepreneurship WHY is a great success!..At first i was not really into the talk and i came just to support my buddy JT,, my expectation was not very high coz being a self organized event, I didn't expect it to be as appealing as those held by some big organizations... The seminar apparently, dawned on me as one of the most inspiring talk i've aver attended. The speaker, was fantastic in catching the attention of the audience. Top knotch quality. Whereas the ambience itself was made so comfortable as to make it more inclusive and reachable. it became something like a class discussion, rather than a rigid and heavy seminar..This way is i think a better way for me to learn about things like entrepreneurship,,where critical and 2way active learning is crucial.. Good job Tcartel,,,Looking foward to your next event.. All d best!! :)

At first, I just want to support Jwo Tyng for this event. I was thinking whether the seminar wld worth my money. It turns out to be great and i'm really looking for the next event. It was very different experience from our MiE lectures or anyth we hear from other bizman. Nicholas has a very unique perspective. His sharing on "destructive innovation" really strike me. All the time, we are thinking how to be creative and innovative abt our biz idea or biz model. But entrepreneurship is not all about technology or creativity. As Nicholas put it, it's about money. But i'm still conservertive on this point. I think it's about value creation and self realization. Thoughts only, i believe everyone has his own understanding. The seminar is very successful, maybe not in terms of quantities but quality of the speakers, the guests and of course the audience and young entrepreneur as well. I felt very comfortable talking with everyone and get many constructive advice from them. I'm very thankful that Nicholas, Tommy and Lawrence can take their precious time and share their insights and stories with us and really listen to our business ideas and give comments. Not many people will do this, not mention their social status and exp in business.
